The Rundown: Alicia discovers that there is a dark plan brewing within the asylum.
Still haunted by her own dark past, Alicia awakens to discover that the patients are reaching out to the beyond without her help and bringing back dark spirits with them. After confronting Waters, she is dismayed to not be believed and when she goes to Templeton where she is threatened that if she persists, she could become a patient herself.
After being attacked by another spirit who calls her the key to their release, she forces Waters to see the truth and the pair confront Templeton only to discover he knows more than he has revealed and has plans for Alicia.
The Story: Chapman crafts a dark and thrilling story in this issue. There is great suspense throughout the story and the stakes are definitely raised for Alicia in more ways than one. I like the pacing of this story a lot because it gets immediately into the threat while weaving the web of the larger story to come. I love the reveal and what it means for the story going forward, especially the dark tone of the cliffhanger.
The Art: Marcello Rossi delivers stunning visuals throughout the issue. I love the visual style and it works perfectly with the dark, gothic setting of the story.
